Tampa Bay, meanwhile, is riding the momentum of a nail-biting 20-19 road win over the Houston Texans on Monday night. The Buccaneers led 14-10 at the break and survived a frantic fourth quarter in which they briefly trailed 19-14, before rallying late to secure the victory.

For Tampa Bay, Baker Mayfield is off to a hot start, completing 60% of his passes for 382 yards, five touchdowns, and zero picks. Mike Evans and Emeka Egbuka have teamed up for 203 receiving yards and three scores, while Sterling Shepard has pulled in seven receptions.

The Buccaneers’ rushing attack is averaging 135 yards a game, with Bucky Irving at the forefront, collecting 108 yards on 31 attempts. On defense, Tampa Bay is surrendering 19.5 points and 312 yards per outing. Tykee Smith tops the unit with 17 tackles, Greg Gaines has one sack, and Jamel Dean has three pass breakups.

Guard Cody Mauch has been sidelined for the rest of 2025 after suffering a knee injury that requires season-ending surgery. This is a major blow for Tampa Bay's offensive line and Mayfield’s protection moving forward.

Buccaneers vs Jets Fantasy Football

Baker Mayfield (19.7 projected W3 fpts) steered his team to a late-game win, rallying after losing the lead in the fourth quarter. However, the Buccaneers will be without one of their key linemen for the remainder of the season.

What makes the Buccaneers such a handful offensively is the sheer depth of their pass-catching unit. Even with Jalin McMillan and Chris Godwin unavailable, Mike Evans and rookie Emeka Egbuka (8.8 projected W3 fpts) have carried the load with authority. Factor in tight end Cade Otton (4.3 projected W3 fpts) and a pair of capable backs, and suddenly Baker Mayfield has no shortage of weapons at his disposal.

The Jets do boast one shutdown option in Sauce Gardner, who figures to shadow Evans most of the afternoon. That, however, opens the door for Egbuka to feast on Brandon Stephens, who already looked vulnerable in Week 1, while Otton and the backs should be able to exploit New York’s thin linebacker corps. From a fantasy football perspective, this is a dream setup—the Bucs’ passing attack could have a field day against a defense stretched far too thin.

On the flip side, New York’s ground game failed to provide any spark in last week’s loss to Buffalo. Breece Hall (12.0 projected W3 fpts), after ripping off 107 yards in the opener against Pittsburgh, was bottled up for just 29 yards on 10 carries. As Tyrod Taylor (14.7 projected W3 fpts) suits up, the Jets will need their rushing attack to control the tempo and give them a fighting chance. Hall should still find pay dirt, but against Tampa Bay’s front, the Jets will need much more than one big play to keep pace.

Garrett Wilson (9.4 projected W3 fpts) opened the 2025 season in style, hauling in seven catches for 95 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, though he ran into some trouble in Week 2. Still, when the Jets can get him the ball in space, he remains a key weapon capable of changing the course of a game.

Buccaneers vs Jets Game Predictions

The Buccaneers head into Week 3 as clear favorites, holding a 67.4% win probability, while the Jets sit at 32.4%, with only a slim chance of a draw.

For New York, success hinges on pounding the rock, but that formula is unlikely to fly against one of the league’s toughest run-stopping units. The Jets also lack the edge-rush firepower to really capitalize on Tampa Bay’s offensive front, which might still be missing star tackle Tristan Wirfs. What could truly tip the scales is Baker Mayfield targeting cornerback Brandon Stephens, a matchup that could turn this contest lopsided in a hurry.

With Tyrod Taylor likely starting under centre and a dreadful defense, the Jets do not boast much of a chance to emerge victorious on Sunday.
