Seattle Seahawks vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Preview: Team news, betting, tickets, live stream, Fantasy Football and more

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) head west for a Week 5 clash with the Seattle Seahawks (3-1) at the always-raucous Lumen Field.

Tampa Bay enters this one fresh off a tough loss to the Eagles, falling 31-25 in a game that looked like a blowout early. Down 24-3 in the second quarter, the Bucs clawed their way back into it, trimming the gap to just eight points with 12 minutes to go. But in the end, the comeback ran out of gas, leaving them with their first loss of the year.

Seattle, meanwhile, is coming off a wild finish against Arizona. The Seahawks spotted the Cardinals an early 3-0 lead, then roared back with 17 unanswered points to seize control. Still, they had to sweat it out late, eventually escaping with a 23-20 win thanks to a clutch field goal at the buzzer.

So now you’ve got two 3-1 teams—one that showed grit in a loss and another that survived a nail-biter. This one feels like a true litmus test: are the Bucs legit contenders or just hanging around? And can Seattle turn those razor-thin margins into something more convincing? One thing’s certain—Lumen Field won’t make it easy.

Seattle Seahawks team news

The Seahawks sat four key players out of Wednesday's practice as they gear up for a Week 5 showdown between two 3-1 NFC squads. DeMarcus Lawrence, who left last week's game with a quad injury, was absent, as was tackle Josh Jones, still nursing an ankle issue. Meanwhile, two defensive backs who had returned from injury last week, safety Julian Love (hamstring) and cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee), also remained sidelined in practice.

On the bright side, rookie safety Nick Emmanwori, who missed the first three games with an ankle injury suffered in the opener, was a full participant, giving hope he could see the field this week.

Last Thursday, Seattle edged Arizona 23-20, with Jason Myers drilling a 52-yard game-winner after the Seahawks nearly blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead. Sam Darnold tossed for 242 yards and a touchdown, continuing his steady season after signing in the offseason; he’s now up to 905 passing yards, five touchdowns, and a sharp 70% completion rate.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers team news

In Week 4, the Buccaneers finally got some reinforcements back, with Tristan Wirfs returning to protect the blindside and Chris Godwin back in the mix. But the good news was tempered by the absence of Mike Evans, sidelined with a hamstring issue that could keep him shelved for several weeks.

Even so, Tampa managed to rediscover some explosiveness, as Baker Mayfield uncorked a pair of 70-plus-yard touchdown bombs to give the offense some much-needed juice. Still, the backbone of this attack remains a ground game that ranks 10th in the league, keeping things steady and balanced.

But the midweek injury sheet painted a far less rosy picture. Mayfield (knee/biceps) was one of nine Buccaneers who didn’t practice on Wednesday, joined by Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder), Evans (hamstring), and Sterling Shepard (foot) on the offensive side. Defensively, the absences were just as concerning, with Greg Gaines (pectoral), Jamel Dean (hip), Christian Izien (quad), Benjamin Morrison (hamstring), and Tykee Smith (ankle) all sitting out.

Seahawks vs Buccaneers Fantasy Football

Baker Mayfield (17.3 projected W5 fpts) continues to deliver for fantasy managers, quietly carving out consistency in a season full of question marks. He’s landed as QB13 or better in each of the first four weeks, and even with multiple offensive line starters and Mike Evans sidelined, he still put up QB12-level numbers (18.9 points) on Sunday. Mayfield firmly belongs in that fringe QB1 territory, though this weekend promises another uphill battle.

Rookie Emeka Egbuka (10.2 projected W5 fpts) keeps his stock high heading into Week 5, earning fantasy relevance thanks to a hot start and expanded opportunities in Tampa Bay’s passing game with Evans out.

Over in Seattle, Sam Darnold (15.9 projected W5 fpts) has been playing efficiently, completing 70.1% of his throws (9th in the league) for 9.8 yards per attempt (league-high) and posting a 6.5% touchdown rate (8th). Still, fantasy returns have been muted—Seattle simply doesn't throw enough, making Darnold a solid QB2 rather than a league-wrecker.

Kenneth Walker III (11.2 fpts) remains a reliable fantasy option, but don’t expect fireworks in the air game. His Week 4 performance against the Cardinals—20 touches for 110 scrimmage yards (81 rushing, 29 receiving)—was productive, but goal-line touches are shared with Zach Charbonnet, capping his ceiling.

Meanwhile, Jaxon Smith-Njigba (11.3 fpts) has emerged as a must-start WR for Week 5. His elite target volume and dependable floor make him a go-to in nearly every format, offering both consistency and upside for big plays.

Seahawks vs Buccaneers Game Predictions

The Buccaneers finally tasted defeat last week, but even with injuries piling up and a long flight out to the Pacific Northwest, they still look like the superior team on paper.

The Seahawks are talented, sure, but they've shown cracks. It took every last tick of the clock to escape against Arizona, and they’ve already dropped a home game to San Francisco. And speaking of home, Lumen Field hasn't exactly been the fortress it used to be — under Mike Macdonald, Seattle's just 2–6 in its last eight there. That’s hardly the "12th Man" dominance we're used to.

Sam Darnold has been steady — 905 yards, five touchdowns, and just two picks — but Seattle's ground game has been stuck in neutral, averaging a measly 3.6 yards a pop. Now they run headfirst into a Tampa Bay front that’s smothering opponents at 3.3 YPC, the second-stingiest mark in the league. Becoming one-dimensional against this defense? That's a recipe for disaster.

And when it comes down to crunch time, the deciding factor is simple: which quarterback can stand tall against pressure and make the big throws when it matters most? That edge goes to Baker Mayfield, who's been the more trustworthy trigger man in clutch moments. Tampa Bay gets the nod here.
