Carolina Panthers vs Dallas Cowboys NFL Preview: Team news, betting, tickets, live stream, Fantasy Football and more

Week 6 pits two struggling squads against each other as the Dallas Cowboys take on the Carolina Panthers. Both teams are fighting to stay relevant — Dallas sits at 2-2-1, while Carolina is just behind at 2-3. Neither squad came into 2025 with playoff expectations, but Sunday's matchup could be a pivotal turning point.

The winner doesn't just get bragging rights; they stake a claim as a team to watch as the season hits the midway mark. This one's more than a game, it's a chance to salvage momentum and prove they belong in the conversation.

Dallas has shown the ability to light up the scoreboard in a flash, balancing an explosive passing attack with a strong ground game led by running back Javonte Williams, who’s thriving in this system. The Cowboys are averaging 6.1 yards per snap and rank sixth in offensive success rate, a clear sign of their consistency in moving the chains and sustaining drives.

On the flip side, Carolina's defense has been a major liability. The Panthers have surrendered big numbers even against less dynamic offenses than Dallas. With the pass rush failing to create pressure, Dak Prescott should have plenty of time to pick his spots, setting the stage for the Cowboys' high-octane offense to deliver more highlight-reel plays.

Carolina Panthers team news

The Panthers got a bit of good news on Wednesday as some key players returned to the practice field. Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle), who’s been sidelined the past two weeks, was back in a limited role, and Chau Smith-Wade (chest) took part fully after missing last week’s contest.

That said, four Panthers were held out of practice: Chuba Hubbard (calf), Taylor Moton (elbow), Tershawn Wharton (toe), and Akayleb Evans (hamstring). Hubbard and Wharton are still recovering from missing last week’s matchup. On a brighter note, Mike Jackson (ribs) and Jalen Coker (quadriceps) were full participants, with Coker officially designated to return from IR today and eligible to be activated anytime within the next 21 days.

Offensively, the Panthers are averaging 20.4 points per game, with a modest 187 passing yards and 128 rushing yards per outing. Bryce Young has completed 60.9% of his passes, tossing seven touchdowns against four interceptions while racking up 951 yards. Tetairoa McMillan leads the receiving corps with 24 catches for 351 yards, and Rico Dowdle has been the workhorse on the ground with 289 rushing yards and two scores. Defensively, the Panthers have struggled slightly, giving up 23.8 points per game, so their health this week could make all the difference.

Dallas Cowboys team news

The injury bug continues to bite the Dallas Cowboys, and Week 5 was brutal—three starting offensive linemen were sidelined, leaving fans holding their breath. Heading into Week 6, hopes for a lighter injury report were dashed. Tyler Booker, CeeDee Lamb, Jack Sanborn, KaVontae Turpin, and Donovan Wilson all missed Wednesday’s practice, keeping the depth chart in flux.

That said, Ryan Flournoy looks poised to prove last week’s breakout wasn't a fluke, stepping up in the receiving corps. On the defensive side, Marshawn Kneeland and James Houston were limited in practice, and their absence could spell trouble. Houston, in particular, has battled injuries before but has been the Cowboys’ top edge rusher early this season. Without him and Kneeland on Sunday, Dallas could be in for a long afternoon.

Injuries have become part of the team’s rhythm, but fans are crossing fingers that Friday's final report will bring some relief. Meanwhile, Dak Prescott continues to shine, throwing for 1,356 yards, 10 touchdowns, and just three interceptions on 71.3% passing efficiency. Javonte Williams leads the ground attack with 447 yards and five scores, while George Pickens tops the team in receiving yards (357) with five touchdowns. Jake Ferguson remains the dependable tight end, hauling in a team-high 42 catches for 272 yards and three scores.

Panthers vs Cowboys Fantasy Football

There's still a mountain of football left in the 2025 season, but Dak Prescott (19.3 projected W6 fpts) is quietly, or maybe not so quietly, building an MVP résumé. Through five weeks, he’s been on absolute fire, completing 71.3% of his passes and averaging 271.2 yards per game with 10 touchdown strikes. The Cowboys roster still has its fair share of cracks, especially on defense, but if Prescott keeps up this torrid pace, he might just drag Dallas into the postseason by sheer force of will.

Javonte Williams (13.9 projected W6 fpts) is playing like a man possessed, currently sitting as the No. 3 fantasy running back, and it's not by accident. The bruising back has churned out 447 yards on 79 carries (a robust 5.7 yards per tote) and crossed the goal line five times on the ground. Add in 17 catches for 78 yards and another score, and you’ve got one of the most complete backs in the game. He's fresh off his best showing of the year and looks like a weekly must-start in every format.

Meanwhile, George Pickens (10.1 projected W6 fpts) has stepped into the WR1 spotlight with authority in CeeDee Lamb's absence — and with an MVP-caliber quarterback slinging him the rock, he’s thriving. Pickens has found the end zone five times over his last four outings, snagging 20 passes on a whopping 33 targets in that span. That volume and production have catapulted him to the No. 7 spot among fantasy wideouts, a clear sign he's arrived.

On the other side of the field, Bryce Young (16.7 projected W6 fpts) continues to struggle to find his rhythm. The former No. 1 pick has finished better than QB25 just once through five games, eclipsing 200 passing yards only a single time. His 5.5 yards per attempt ranks 31st in the league, ahead of only Cam Ward (5.4 Y/A) and Joe Flacco (5.1 Y/A). Right now, he's far from a streaming option in single-quarterback leagues.

As for Tetairoa McMillan (9.4 projected W6 fpts), the hype hasn’t fully translated into production — at least not yet. Despite being targeted 43 times (tied for 9th-most in the NFL), he sits as just the WR29 in fantasy, still searching for his first touchdown of the season. He’s had five red-zone looks, the volume is there, but the big breakout just hasn’t come.

Panthers vs Cowboys Game Predictions

Dallas still boasts one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, but their defense can flip-flop between being airtight and looking like they’re letting anyone march down the field at will. It's hard to gauge how many stops the Panthers will actually get, but one thing’s clear: Carolina has been far more dangerous at home this season. Expect a high-scoring affair, with Bryce Young primed to light it up through the air.

Dallas were without CeeDee Lamb, KaVontae Turpin, Tyler Guyton, and Tyler Booker last week — and while they managed to power through those absences, lightning might not strike twice. If that same group remains sidelined heading into Week 6, the Panthers could be licking their chops for a golden opportunity to pull off a statement win.
