Bio: I’m a news writer and editor with almost two decades of experience in sports journalism after graduating with a degree in English in Media. I first joined GOAL all the way back in 2008 and returned for a second stint more recently. In that time I’ve covered almost everything the game has to offer, the good, the bad and the ugly, and consider it a privilege to have built a career following a sport I love.

My Football Story: I grew up watching, playing and generally being obsessed by all things football. One of my earliest memories was going to watch my local team Kidderminster Harriers give West Ham an almighty scare in the fifth round of the FA Cup. I didn’t know it at the time, but a few years later I would play on the hallowed turf of Aggborough for Harriers Women in the FA Cup. And yes, we lost that one too. That was the highlight of a very short playing career but going on to work in football media has been the next best thing. I can also be found on the touchline cheering on my son’s team and enjoying watching another generation develop their love for this beautiful game.

Favourite Footballing Memory: There’s so many but managing to somehow be in the right place at the right time and able to sneak into San Siro to watch Italy take on Wales will take some beating for sheer fun value. A rare chance to watch legends such as Gigi Buffon, Fabio Cannavaro, Alessandro Nesta, Gennaro Gattuso, Alessandro Del Piero and Ryan Giggs up (fairly) close and on the same pitch was pretty special.

    Former England striker Gary Lineker has signed a lucrative new deal to take his The Rest is Football podcast to streaming giant Netflix for the 2026 World Cup. The show will run daily throughout the competition in North America, Mexico and Canada and will also feature usual co-hosts Alan Shearer and Micah Richards. It will be filmed in New York but will also feature reports from the England camp and fan zones across the tournament.

  5. 'Another howler' - Arsenal & Spurs fans rage at officials over pen call

    Arsenal and Tottenham fans joined forces to rage at match officials after Newcastle were awarded a controversial late penalty against Spurs in the Premier League on Tuesday. Rodrigo Bentancur was penalised for fouling Dan Burn in the area in the 86th minute, leaving fans furious at the decision. Anthony Gordon converted the spot-kick to make it 2-1, but Cristian Romero rescued a draw for the visitors in stoppage time.

    Television presenter Laura Woods has shared a positive update following a worrying collapse during live coverage of the Lionesses' friendly against Ghana on Tuesday evening. Woods was taken ill ahead of kick off when she fell and was caught by pundits Ian Wright and Anita Asante, and ITV immediately cut to an advertising break. The presenter has now taken to social media to reassure fans and thank those who helped her.

    Aston Villa's Europa League clash with Young Boys was disrupted by ugly scenes on Thursday night at Villa Park. Donyell Malen was hit on the head by an object thrown from the crowd after scoring his side's opening goal of the match, while the game had to be halted for several minutes just before half-time after violence broke out in the stands among the away supporters.

    Liverpool boss Arne Slot has opened up on his future at Anfield after meeting with the club's owners. The Reds are currently on a dreadful run of form and were beaten yet again on Wednesday night in the Champions League by PSV.     Paris Saint-Germain loanee Randal Kolo Muani shone against his parent club with two goals and an assist, but his heroics ultimately counted for nothing as Tottenham slumped to a comprehensive 5-3 defeat at the reigning European champions. Spurs went ahead twice in the game. but were undone by some dismal defending as PSG scored five times and took home all three Champions League points.

    Kylian Mbappe made more history on Wednesday night as he took just seven minutes to bag a Champions League hat-trick against Olympiacos. The Greek side had taken a shock lead against Xabi Alonso's side with a brilliant team goal, but were left stunned as Mbappe netted three times in just seven minutes to put Los Blancos firmly in control of the tie.

    Chelsea have reportedly reopened talks to sign Mike Maignan from Serie A giants AC Milan when his contract expires at the end of the season. However, the Blues must first free up some space in the squad and are considering offloading Filip Jorgensen. The 23-year-old is yet to make a single Premier League start for Enzo Maresca's side and could be on his way at the end of the season.
