Patron Uli Hoeneß used the backdrop of a 15-0 friendly win over ninth-tier FC Rottach-Egern to deliver his clearest statement yet on Michael Olise, dismissing Real Madrid transfer speculation with characteristic bluntness. "We'd have to be stupid," Hoeneß said, adding that not even "the Emperor of China" could open talks over a player under contract until 2029. Sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the position, revealing that Olise had actually turned down a contract extension offer from Bayern during the World Cup, though his future at the club is not in doubt.

Off the pitch, Hoeneß also publicly apologised to Eberl for comments made before the DFB-Pokal final in May, when he had put the director's chances of staying beyond 2027 at "60-40." He now rates those chances at "100 percent," with a supervisory board decision expected at the end of August.
