World Cup Betting: Brazil firm favourites after seeing off Mexico in Samara

Brazil have been shortened to 11/4 (3.75) to win the World Cup after seeing off Mexico 2-0 in their last 16 clash.

Second-half strikes from Neymar and Roberto Firmino gave the five-time champions victory, with El Tri crashing out in the round of 16 for seventh World Cup in a row.

It was not always convincing from Brazil but the bookmakers found it to be good enough to shorten their odds and create some daylight in the market.

Indeed, Tite’s side were 7/2 (4.50) before kick-off but the result has seen them be cut to 11/4 (3.75) with dabblebet, who make France second-favourites at 15/4 (4.75).

Les Bleus edged out Argentina 4-3 in one of the most entertaining games of the tournament and will play Uruguay in their quarter-final, who are 14/1 (15.0) to lift the World Cup for a third time.

England and Croatia can both be found at 13/2 (7.50) ahead of the Three Lions’ clash with Colombia in Moscow on Tuesday night, with Los Cafeteros out at 20/1 (21.0).

Hosts Russia stunned Spain on penalties on Sunday afternoon but are still 22/1 (23.0) outsiders, ahead of Switzerland (33/1) and Sweden (40/1).

Neymar’s opener was his second goal of the tournament and he is now 10/1 (11.0) to claim the Golden Boot, whilst Firmino is unsurprisingly 100/1 (101.0) after netting his first of this World Cup.

The Paris Saint-Germain star still trails clubmate Kylian Mbappe (7/1), with five-goal Harry Kane at 11/8 (2.37) and Romelu Lukaku, who has four strikes, is at 9/4 (3.25).
