West Brom team news

West Brom began their league season positively, beating Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at home thanks to Isaac Price’s early goal. Manager Ryan Mason is expected to rotate heavily from that match, as cup tradition allows squad players valuable minutes. Notably, Darnell Furlong is suspended due to a red card picked up on opening day, though there are no new injury concerns.

Up front, Devante Cole and Josh Maja are both likely to start, and backup goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith should get the nod between the posts, replacing regular starter Josh Griffiths. Up to eight changes from the league lineup are anticipated, providing opportunities for fringe players to impress.

Derby team news

Derby County, by contrast, suffered a disappointing start to their season, losing 3-1 away at Stoke City. Under head coach John Eustace, Derby have made several summer additions and are expected to rotate as well for this cup encounter.

Carlton Morris will likely lead the attack again, but squad players like Dajaune Brown, Andreas Weimann, Bobby Clark, and Dion Sanderson are set for starting roles. Derby are dealing with a significant list of absentees: Patrick Agyemang, Kane Wilson, Sondre Langås, Lars-Jørgen Salvesen, Curtis Nelson, Owen Beck, and Matt Clarke are all currently sidelined due to injury.
