Rafinha confident of Bayern renewal as contract runs down

Rafinha remains confident that he will commit to a new contract at Bayern Munich and avoid the free agent pool.

The 32-year-old Brazilian is among those at the Allianz Arena set to see their current deals expire in the summer.

Much of the attention when it comes to possible extensions has focused on wing duo Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, as they also wait on offers.

Bayern have regularly talked up their intention to keep the attacking pair on their books, with the Dutch and French stars showing no sign of slowing down.

Rafinha is, however, another of those expecting to enter into talks.

He believes discussions will be held, with no indication offered that he will be deemed surplus to requirements.

Bayern are currently working towards a Champions League semi-final clash with reigning European champions Real Madrid, but contract issues will be addressed once that tie is over.

Rafinha told Sport1 on his situation: “It looks good. We have to focus on the next games now first.

“After the semi-finals against Real Madrid we'll see what comes.”

Bayern are in a position to narrow their focus on continental competition after wrapping up another Bundesliga title.

Rafinha has appeared in 23 league fixtures this season, and 34 in total, which suggests that a man who has been in Bavaria since 2011 remains an important part of the fold.
