Premier League Top Scorer Betting: Salah still favourite for Golden Boot after Huddersfield brace

The Premier League Golden Boot race looks set to go down to the final day of the season after Sergio Aguero kept pace with Liverpool pair Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Aguero netted Manchester City’s only goal in their 1-0 win over Burnley on Sunday, with his shot crossing the line by just three centimetres, to take him onto 20 strikes for the season.

He is now 2/1 (3.0) with William Hill to scoop the top scorer prize for the second time after reaching 20 goals for the fifth season in a row – making him just the second player to ever do so together with Thierry Henry.

However, the mercurial Argentine still trails Salah by one goal after the Egyptian struck twice in Liverpool’s 5-0 demolition of Huddersfield Town on Friday night.

William Hill make the forward 6/5 (2.20) to defend his crown and will certainly feel confident of registering against Newcastle next weekend, considering he has done so in each of the last two times he has played the Magpies.

Salah will certainly face stiff competition from teammate Mane, who also scored twice against Huddersfield to move onto 20 goals for the first time in a league campaign.

The Senegal forward is at 3/1 (4.0) ahead of the final two games of the season but is Liverpool’s man in form with 12 goals in his last 14 fixtures, as well as three Champions League strikes in that time.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has endured a miserable time of late, scoring just four times in his last nine league matches, and offered little in Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat at Leicester on Sunday.

Nevertheless, the Gabon international is still on 19 goals for the season and can be backed at 12/1 (13.0) whilst Raheem Sterling – on 17 goals – is 25/1 (26.0) to end the campaign as the Premier League's leading scorer.

Jamie Vardy continued his impressive record against the top six with a double against the Gunners to move onto 18 goals and whilst he is not offered by William Hill, bet365 make him 66/1 (67.0) to swoop in and claim the Golden Boot.
