Two multiple-time winners of the Premier League Golden Boot look set to battle it out over the final games as Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah fight to be crowned this season’s winner.
The Spurs man has 21 strikes to lead the way and that tally already marks his best return since 2017-18, although he will surely want to increase that total by staying in form ahead of this summer’s European Championship.
Having already won the award in in 2015-16 and in 2016-17, bet365 make it 4/5 (1.80) that the England captain is the top scorer at the end of the campaign.
Kane has shown remarkable consistency this season with strikes in 16 of his 32 Premier League starts, netting more than once on five occasions, although he is yet to add to his eight career hat-tricks in the competition.
What is most remarkable about his campaign is that not only does he currently lead the goalscorers charts, but also has the most assists with 13 – although that is not a tiebreaker.
Indeed, there is no tiebreaker and should multiple players finish on the same amount of goals, then the award will be shared and it is worth noting that dead heat rules do apply in this market so, if two or more players are tied, then you will receive only half the returns.
This scenario occurred as recently as two years ago when Salah shared the award with Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the trio all scored 22 goals.
Getty ImagesThat was the Egyptian’s second Golden Boot after previously netting 32 times during his debut season with Liverpool, setting the record for most goals in a 38-game Premier League campaign, and he is Evens (2.0) to claim a third.
It has been a testing season for the Reds as their defence of the title fell away without so much as a whimper in the second half thanks to a spate of injuries, but Salah has been one of very few bright sparks.
His current tally of 20 goals puts him one behind Kane as he chases yet another place in the record books, with three Golden Boots putting him – or his Spurs counterpart – just one behind Thierry Henry.
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has struck 17 times this season and is out at 33/1 (34.0), whilst Heung-min Son has the same amount but is further afield in the betting at 50/1 (51.0).
