MUNDIAL teams up with Australian rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, R.SPORT and Socceroos star Jackson Irvine to release bold new limited edition shirt

MUNDIAL has linked up with King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and R.SPORT to create a new limited-edition shirt, merging the band's 'Gizzverse' with global football culture.

Designed in collaboration with longtime band collaborator, Jason Galea, and R.SPORT, an Australian Lifestyle brand rooted in football fashion, the shirt features reptilian scales, custom typeface, a tasteful collar and a badge you cannot find anywhere else.

King Gizzard are a fiercely independent Australian band who run their own record label and whose genre-bending styles range from psych rock to metal to jazz. They've also cultivated the 'Gizzverse' - an interconnected universe with recurring characters, artwork and themes - and have just dropped Phantom Island, a live album recorded with an orchestra.

Jackson Irvine, Australia and St Pauli midfielder, modelled the striking new jersey and explained why he decided to get involved with MUNDIAL's latest collaboration.

"There's so many elements to this," he said after being snapped in the new shirt by his partner, photographer Jemilla Pir. "It just falls perfectly within the framework of stuff that I love. Football and fashion and music culture, this kind of beautiful blend of everything. And from a Melbourne perspective, where I'm from, there's so many ties to my own life.

"When you get offered the chance to meet like-minded people and be involved in a project that combines the things you're most passionate about, it's an absolute no brainer. Especially when it's people from your hometown who have a similar lived experience to yourself as well.

"I love the shirt. I like the traditional aspects of it which make it feel like a football jersey, but then the real gothy like flame which gives it such a classic King Gizz feel. The combination of those elements of everything you love about a traditional football shirt and the spirit of the band together in this way. That's the thing I love most about it."

The shirt is available via MUNDIAL's webstore now, while fans can also get their hands on it during King Gizzard's U.S. tour (July 28 - Aug 11) and three-day 'Field of Vision' music festival in Buena Vista, CO (August 15 - August 17).
