Lithuania v England Betting: Visitors' defence to remain untroubled in win

With their place in Russia already secured, England will be hoping to end their qualification campaign on a high when they travel to Vilnius to take on Lithuania on Sunday.

Gareth Southgate’s men wrapped up first place  in Group F by edging Slovenia 1-0 on Thursday, and are 4/11 (1.36) favourites with dabblebet to sign off with an eighth victory in 10 matches.

In contrast, the Rinktine have only won one of their nine qualification fixtures, but are priced at 17/2 (9.50) to finish with a shock victory at the LFF Stadium.

Two of the guests’ last three away matches have resulted in draws, and you can get odds of 15/4 (4.75) on them being forced to settle for a point once again in this one.

While they may have eventually got the result they needed thanks to a late Harry Kane winner, Thursday’s victory at Wembley was hardly achieved in the convincing manner Southgate would have liked.

As has been the case for the majority of the qualification campaign, the Three Lions’ performance was solid rather than spectacular – albeit enough to emerge on top in the end.

Whereas the boss has struggled to get the best out of those attacking players who look so exciting for their club sides, such as Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford, he can at least content himself with the defensive solidity that has become such a feature of their qualification games.

After keeping a seventh clean sheet in nine games against Slovenia, the guests should feel more than confident of extending that record when they take on Edgaras Jankauskas’ misfiring outfit.

Although Lithuania may have found the net in Thursday’s 1-1 draw - just their second goal in their last six games - against a Malta side that has let in 22 goals in nine group games, it is hard to see them building on that against a defence conceding just once every three matches on average.

Instead, odds of 11/10 (2.10) is excellent value on England winning to nil for the seventh time in 10 group games on Sunday.
