Sunderland v Tottenham Hotspur Betting: Moyes' men braced for another dismal evening

After avoiding an almighty shock in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, Tottenham Hotspur will turn their attention back to Premier League football when they travel to take on Sunderland.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team came from 2-0 and 3-2 down against Wycombe Wanderers at White Hart Lane to claim a dramatic 4-3 triumph in stoppage time – an eighth win in nine competitive fixtures for the team from north London.

Sunderland, on the other hand, are struggling. David Moyes’ men have come out on top in just one of their last 10 matches in all competitions and the Black Cats can be backed at a chunky 15/2 (8.50) with Betway to stun Spurs by taking all three points on home soil.

Tottenham have taken maximum points from six of their last seven matches in the Premier League and they are chalked up as Betway’s 4/11 (1.36) favourites to maintain momentum by winning this one, while the same firm offer 4/1 (5.0) that both teams are forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

There have been more than two goals in seven of Spurs’ last nine matches in all competitions and Betway go just 4/6 (1.67) that the trend continues in this match, while the same firm go 17/10 (2.70) that there are more than three goals scored – a selection that would have seen punters profit from each of the last three league games that the north Londoners have played on their travels.

Struggling Sunderland, however, have failed to find the net in three of their last four games and the Betway go 10/11 (1.91) that the Black Cats draw a blank against Spurs, while the same firm offer 23/20 (2.15)that Pochettino’s team win to nil on Wearside.

Better value  though, may lie in backing free-scoring Spurs to get amongst the goals again. The north Londoners have scored more than two goals in six of their last eight league victories in all competitions and the 7/5 (2.40)quote for Pochettino’s team to score at least three times is certainly tempting.

Sunderland have shipped 14 goals in their last five league fixtures and the hosts may find it difficult to stop the rot against a Spurs side that is brimming with belief.

The 7/5 (2.40) quote, therefore, for Pochettino’s men to notch more than two goals when they make the trip north to face Sunderland is the recommended play for punters ahead of Tuesday’s tussle.
