Betting: Crystal Palace no longer drop favourites after Chelsea upset whilst Huddersfield odds cut

Crystal Palace have already lost more Premier League games this season than most, if not all, of the top six will lose during the entire season.

The Eagles famously lost their opening seven games without scoring before causing an upset for the ages when they edged reigning champions Chelsea 2-1 at Selhurst Park.

The precarious state of the Premier League, something that was such a feature of last season which saw 8th and 17th separated by just six points by the end of May, means that there is not much to split the teams on a betting front as just six points split Southampton in 10th and Palace in 20th.

Roy Hodgson’s men are 11/10 (2.10) with bet365 to go back down to the Championship after five seasons in the top flight, although they are not the shortest odds on the odds compiler thanks to the fact that, on paper, they have arguably a stronger squad than most other teams around the drop zone.

That dubious honour belongs to Premier League novices Huddersfield Town, who are currently priced at 4/5 (1.80) after a run of six games without a win and face six of last season’s top seven in their next nine matches.

Also available at 11/10 (2.10) are new-boys Brighton and Hove Albion, fresh from a 1-1 draw at home to Everton to make it three matches without loss at The Amex. However, the Seagulls have picked up just one point from their travels and will be hoping to improve that in their quest to stay in the Premier League.

Swansea City, relegation favourites for what feels like forever now, are quoted at 6/4 (2.50) to finally go back down, but they will be boosted by their 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town on the weekend.

Meanwhile at a generous 13/8 (2.63), AFC Bournemouth are not having the best start after losing six of their first eight games, and Cherries fans will be hoping Jermain Defoe finds his stride soon to get their side out of the relegation zone.

Unbeaten in six games, Burnley are next at 7/2 (4.50), whilst West Brom can be bagged at 5/1 (6.0) and 15th-placed West Ham are quoted at 6/1 (7.0).
