Xabi Alonso explains why he 'needs' Jude Bellingham back in Real Madrid starting XI as England star gets the green light ahead of derby showdown against Atletico

Addressing the press at Real Madrid City ahead of the derby, Alonso confirmed Bellingham’s availability: “You already asked me that. Both Bellingham and [Eduardo] Camavinga can start.”

On the midfielder’s role, the Spanish coach added: “He’s an attacking midfielder. He can participate in both the build-up and the finish. He has the ability to cover a lot of ground. We have to get the most out of him so that he can be decisive. I need his flexibility and versatility. Some players are more static, and Jude is not one of them.”

With Madrid enjoying a flawless start to the 2025-26 season, Alonso will rely on Bellingham to add creativity and dynamism against Los Rojiblancos on Saturday.
