Why Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been gifted use of Arsenal box despite being a season ticket holder - explained

Starmer has been a regular attendee at Arsenal matches for many years, watching the highs and lows in north London, including the particularly good times recently under Mikel Arteta. According to ITV, the prime minister has now been gifted a corporate box by the club so he can continue watching his beloved team in person.

The change from a normal seat to a box comes because of concerns over Starmer's safety with his recent election as leader of the United Kingdom. An increase in the number of security guards he needs around him makes it impossible for the Labour leader to sit in his usual West Stand seat, prompting the change. Starmer's new box instead has room for himself, his family and the endless security at his disposal.

Arsenal advertise the boxes Starmer has been housed in at nearly £9,000 per game. That is a hefty bill that the prime minister is avoiding and he may get to see the Gunners lift the Premier League trophy from his new view in May.

Starmer has also been known to travel to plenty of away games but it is unknown whether the prime minister will be in attendance for Arsenal's trip to Manchester City on Sunday.
