United States international McKennie has never played competitively in his homeland, having left the youth ranks at FC Dallas when joining German side Schalke in 2016. He has impressed in Europe, to the point that Serie A giants Juventus snapped him up in 2020.

McKennie is now into the final year of his contract with the Bianconeri, and they are eager to agree a sale. A deal appeared to have been done when acquiring Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, but former Leeds loanee McKennie snubbed the opportunity to return to England in a part-exchange agreement.

More questions are being asked of his future now that the 2024-25 campaign is fast approaching, with Juve looking to free up funds and squad space. According to JuveLive, McKennie may be offered the opportunity to head for MLS.

It is claimed that Inter Miami – who already have Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba on their books – are prepared to pay €14m for McKennie. Said offer has been branded “surreal” by those in Italy, but there is plenty for the 25-year-old Washington native to mull over as he considers returning to the land of his birth.
