    The Pilgrims staged a sensational comeback on Saturday in the Championship as they managed to hold Preston to a 3-3 draw despite conceding three goals within the first 48 minutes of the game. It was a much-needed point for Rooney's side, who came into the match on the back of consecutive defeats against Cardiff City and Millwall.

    After securing an important point from the fixture, Plymouth boss Rooney explained how a fake threat from the touchline motivated his players to up their game and score three times in the second half. Plymouth have had a difficult start to their 2024-25 campaign having secured just 12 points from as many matches and are currently struggling as they sit 21st in the Championship.

    Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the 39-year-old said: "I told them, 'You've got five minutes otherwise I am making five changes'. And then we got three goals. Just try and get the ball quick and have more aggression and put tackles in and get to people and the basics of the game."
