WATCH: Virgil van Dijk issues savage response to Pau Torres after failing to win penalty during Aston Villa's loss at Liverpool

Shortly before Liverpool went two goals up, Villa centre-back Torres appealed for a penalty following a coming together with Ryan Gravenberch. The former Villarreal man went down rather theatrically, leading Reds skipper Van Dijk to mock the big Spaniard, saying, "You're six-foot-four, mate!"

The hard-fought victory sent Van Dijk's side five points clear at the top of the Premier League, following Manchester City's shock loss to Brighton earlier on Saturday. The visit of Unai Emery's men proved to be a tough hurdle for Liverpool but they passed that test with flying colours.

Arne Slot's team will now head their separate ways for the international break, before returning to Liverpool action away to bottom-of-the-table Southampton on Sunday, November 24, in the Premier League.
