  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Having seen the success enjoyed by Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in North Wales, Motherwell are now looking to attract a Hollywood star of their own to Scotland. A tongue-in-cheek video has been produced by the Scottish Premiership outfit – featuring fans and players from the club’s men’s and women’s teams.

  • WHAT MOTHERWELL SAID

In said production, Scotland international Stephen O’Donnell says: “Are you the next Hollywood celebrity looking to get involved in football? Well, we've got a club that offers real bang for your buck.” A disclaimer adds: “Obviously a Hollywood A-lister with white teeth and big pockets would be great, but we welcome anyone who just wants to support, sponsor or invest in a proper football club that supports the local community.” A mocked-up Motherwell-themed walk of fame is also included, which features "Well B", "Well.I.Am" and "Motherwell Ferrell". A young fan is also captured pleading: "Taylor Swift, gies some dosh."

    WHAT NEXT?

It remains to be seen whether Motherwell will get their wish, but more investment in football clubs is being found from unlikely sources – with NFL legends Tom Brady and JJ Watt now involved at Birmingham and Burnley respectively, while Michael B. Jordan owns a stake in Premier League side Bournemouth.
