    Kompany, 38, was speaking in one of his first press conferences after being announced as Thomas Tuchel's successor at the Allianz Arena, where he confirmed his name had been pronounced incorrectly for the majority of his career. The former Burnley boss stated his first name 'Vincent', was where the issue stemmed from.

  • WHAT KOMPANY SAID

    Speaking on Bayern's official club TikTok account, Kompany said: "So my name is actually pronounced ‘Vincent’. But I played in Hamburg for two years and it never worked because it is hard to pronounce for Germans I guess. That’s why ‘Vincent’ or ‘Vinny’ is totally fine."

    Kompany was announced as Bayern's new head coach earlier this week after signing a three-year-deal at the Bundesliga giants. The Belgian has left Burnley after two years in charge where he achieved promotion from the Championship in his first campaign at Turf Moor - before suffering relegation in 2023-24.
