Rodri was awarded the prestigious Ballon d'Or on Monday in a ceremony held in Paris, marking a milestone as the first defensive midfielder to win the award. The Spain international earned the recognition after an outstanding season, which included helping Manchester City clinch their fourth consecutive Premier League title and fuelling Spain’s victorious European Championship campaign.

Upon receiving the accolade, Rodri celebrated in high spirits and footage showed the midfielder at a restaurant, joined by teammate Ruben Dias, where they jubilantly sang “Rodri’s on fire!” while waving napkins, marking an exuberant celebration of his long-awaited victory. Amid the festive atmosphere, a video published by Spanish outlet El Chiringuito captured Rodri singing along to the melody of the Italian folk tune “Bella Ciao.” However, in a twist, the lyrics appeared to have been altered to “Ciao Vini,” which translates to “Bye Vini” in English.

Rodri is currently nursing his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury while basking in the glory of the Ballon d'Or. Meanwhile, Vinicius is expected to return to action against Valencia over the weekend if the match goes ahead despite serious flood situations in the province.
