  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Grealish may have left boyhood club Aston Villa in 2021 in order to move to Manchester City but they still hold a place in his heart. The England star even joined up with Villa fans in a pub during their Champions League tie with Club Brugge in midweek. A video on social media showed fans on a video call with Grealish, with fans chanting about the 28-year-old despite it being a tough night for their team as they were beaten 1-0 in Belgium.

    The fans could be heard singing: "Take me on up to the spirit in the sky. It's where I want to go when I die. When I die and they lay me to rest, I'm going to go on the p*ss with Jack Grealish."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Grealish may have made the fans' night by answering their call but if was another difficult evening for his team. Manchester City also tasted defeat in the Champions League midweek, going down 4-1 to Ruben Amorim's Sporting. Grealish was not part of the squad due to injury and so missed the game in Lisbon.

    WHAT NEXT FOR GREALISH

    Grealish had been ruled out until after November's international break by City manager Pep Guardiola but has been included in Lee Carsley's England squad for Nations League fixtures against Ireland and Greece - a decision that may not go down well with his club side.
