VIDEO: Christian Pulisic goes from hero to zero! AC Milan & USMNT star SKIES potential match-winning penalty in showdown with fierce rivals Juventus

  • Pulisic could have kept AC Milan top of Serie A

Nobody is going to be pointing fingers in Pulisic’s direction at San Siro when it comes to collective failure to pick up wins, with the 27-year-old forward having become a talismanic presence in Milan. He has found the target on six occasions through eight appearances in all competitions this season.

Pulisic must, however, shoulder some of the blame for only a point being taken from a clash with Juve in Turin. Had his spot-kick against the Bianconeri hit the back of the net, then Milan would be heading into the latest international break perched at the top of the Serie A table. As it stands, they sit third - two points adrift of Roma and defending champions Napoli.

  • Pulisic's penalty record: Two misses so far

Keeping a clean sheet against Juve is another positive for Massimiliano Allegri’s side, but they are left wondering what could have been. Pulisic has successfully converted four penalties for Milan during his time in Italy. He has now missed two, having previously come unstuck against Torino in February.

‘Captain America’ looked confident enough as he stepped up to the spot in the 53rd minute against Juve, but did favour a short run up. When reaching the ball, and taking aim at the top corner, he leant back and proceeded to fire over the crossbar and into the crowd. Pulisic was left with his head in his hands as team-mates sought to console him.

Taking to Instagram after the game, Pulisic wrote: "It kills me to let this club down. Will work 10x harder to make things right. Forza Milan always."

Will Pulisic sign new contract at AC Milan?

Pulisic’s penalty-taking record remains impressive, with only two blots on his copybook for club and country, but it remains to be seen whether he will step up the next time that Milan are awarded a spot-kick. He is determined to make a telling contribution to that cause, with it possible that a new contract will be signed in the near future after seeing a lucrative extension offer left on the table for several months.
