USMNT's Djordje Mihailovic to leave AZ Alkmaar in January transfer window just one year after arriving at Dutch side

The Dutch club announced on Tuesday that the U.S. international would not be traveling with them to Spain for a new year training camp, stating that he was saying behind to pursue a move away from AZ, just one year after arriving via transfer.

Mihalovic has made 11 appearances for the USMNT, with five coming during the 2023 Gold Cup in the summer. For AZ, he made 36 total appearances in 2023, scoring two goals while starting just 10 matches for the Dutch side.

Mihailovic has three goals in 11 appearances for the USMNT, including a brilliant showing with two goals and two assists against St. Kitts and Nevis in the 2023 Gold Cup.

After starring in MLS with the Chicago Fire and Montreal Impact, the 25-year-old now has a choice to make after an unsuccessful stint abroad. Does he return to the league where he flourished, or does he continue his European dream? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: he's set to leave AZ this January.
