  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Journalist Alan Nixon has claimed Wrexham have decided to put £10m (€13.4m/$11.5m) aside for a new striker this summer. The Welsh side have just set a new club record transfer fee with the arrival of New Zealand international Liberato Cacace but are thought to have green-lit another move which will blow that reported £2.16 million (€2.5m/$3m) fee out of the water.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Wrexham do not currently have a target in mind as they aim to impress in their first season in the second tier of English football since 1981-82. They have said a temporary goodbye to Paul Mullin, who took on most of the goalscoring burden during their three successive promotions, but one striker has already arrived this summer in the form of Ryan Hardie from Plymouth.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Danny Ward has also completed a return to his boyhood club after leaving Leicester on a free transfer. The squad still features veterans like James McClean, Jay Rodriguez and Matty James, all of whom have contracts that expire in 2026.

    WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

Wrexham don't have much time left to bring in a new goalscorer, with their first Championship match coming at Southampton on 9 August. They have just been on a pre-season tour to Australia and New Zealand, beating Melbourne Victory and losing to Sydney and Wellington Phoenix.
