Earlier this month, Muller announced that he would not be extending his contract with Bayern Munich, as his deal winds down to an end this summer. As such, a lot of questions have been raised as to what the future holds for the Der Rekordmeister legend, with a potential retirement on the cards.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Retirement remains the likeliest possibility for Muller, and it has been suggested that he could immediately take up a leadership role. However, Hoeness has now confirmed that the German international will not take on such a role at Bayern Munich at the moment, but could return to after he gains experience at other clubs, naming Manchester United in particular.

WHAT HOENESS SAID
Speaking to journalist Julien Wolff, Hoeness said: “He’ll spend three months studying the NBA, three months with the NFL, then go to England – for example, to Manchester United. He’ll come back with a certain level of experience and then discuss with us what role he could take on at FC Bayern in the future.”
WHAT NEXT FOR MULLER?
Despite all the reports, Muller is still undecided over his future and could very well join another club this summer with moves to Major League Soccer and the Saudi Por League also discussed.
