  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The former United goalkeeper revealed that he sat with his ex-coach at Old Trafford on Sunday to watch the club play against arch-rivals Liverpool. The experience, however, was nothing short of a nightmare as the Reds thrashed the hosts 3-0 courtesy of a first-half brace from Luis Diaz and a second-half strike from Mohamed Salah.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Schmeichel claimed that he felt bad for his former boss who took the club to a different height while in charge at Old Trafford for 26 years. The Red Devils' performance graph has massively fallen over the last decade and they are yet to win another Premier League title since Ferguson's retirement at the end of the 2012-13 season.

  • WHAT PETER SCHMEICHEL SAID

Speaking to Premier League Productions, the former Denmark custodian said: "I was sat with Sir Alex today, it was really sad. What he did for this football club. Everything that we enjoyed. The great times. Everything. To sit with him and he is watching this. That, for me, is really, really sad that he is watching that. He did something really extraordinary with this football club. All of that is not there anymore."
