  • WHAT AGUERO SAID

Speaking to Stake, Aguero said: "I’ve played with the GOAT, and it was great to spend the day with some more of his kind! If Argentina can win Copa America, then they can cement their legacy as one of the greatest teams of all time. Argentina is always a candidate... but, pressure? I don't think so. I think we're used to this. Now, it's about preserving the style and team-concept we've developed. We won what we've won because of this."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

It is not set in stone, but the upcoming Copa America could be Messi's final major tournament on the international stage. He may want to stick around for two more years and play in one last World Cup, but there is no pressure to do so having won it in Qatar two years ago.

WHAT NEXT FOR MESSI AND ARGENTINA?

La Albiceleste are also the reigning Copa America champions having beaten Brazil to the title in 2021. In 2024, they sit in Group A with Canada, Peru and Chile as they look to retain their crown. They will open the tournament against the Maple Leafs in a few days.
