Keane shared a Step Brothers-themed Instagram post to tease the appearance of his former team-mate and fellow United icon Denis Irwin on the popular podcast. The former United captain posed in a T-shirt with the faces of Irwin and himself superimposed onto the bodies of actors John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell in a poster for the 2008 comedy.

In the caption of his Instagram post, Keane wrote: "Guess who’s on the podcast tomorrow." The Overlap's official account then responded with the well-known line from Step Brothers: "Did we just become best friends?!"

Keane and Irwin shared a dressing room at Old Trafford for nine years between 1993 and 2002 and won a host of trophies, including six Premier League titles, the Champions League and two FA Cups. They were also both an integral part of Sir Alex Ferguson's famous treble-winning squad of the 1998-99 season.
