Barcelona have received a significant boost following their El Clasico defeat, with striker completing a full training session on Monday, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.
The Polish forward's return to the training ground provides a much-needed dose of optimism for Hansi Flick's side, who lost 2-1 to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Optimism is also reportedly growing within the squad regarding the recovery of goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who is progressing well from knee surgery.
Lewandowski, 37, joined the group of players who did not start against Real Madrid and completed the session, signalling he is in the "final stretch" of his recovery. As reported by Radio Barcelona, his progress puts him in contention for a return to the squad for this Sunday's La Liga match against Elche at the Lluís Companys Stadium.
The striker has been sidelined since suffering a "muscle tear in the hamstring of his left thigh" while on international duty with Poland earlier this month. The injury was a source of frustration for the club, as Lewandowski played all 90 minutes for his national team despite feeling discomfort and wearing a heavy bandage.
