  • WHAT HAPPENED?

From the moment that a stunning takeover was completed in North Wales back in 2021, Hollywood co-owners have never shied away from setting lofty targets and making bold statements. McElhenney is often the loudest voice in that pack.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fellow co-chairman Ryan Reynolds has been dragged along for the ride, with three successive promotions taking Wrexham out of the National League and into the Championship - with top-flight football just one more rung up the ladder.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Fans around the world, especially those caught up in the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary drama, are starting to believe that the Red Dragons can reach the big time. In contrast, there will always be some that want to write off the most ambitious of projects.

    WHAT ROB MCELHENNEY SAID

McElhenney has no issue with that, as he prefers to look on the bright side of life, and has told the Men In Blazers podcast when asked again about bringing Premier League action to SToK Racecourse: "That has always been our goal. People would laugh when we would say that - especially members of the press. But fans and lots of people would laugh.

"I always found that fascinating. I never got upset about it. I never even got a chip on my shoulder about it. I was confused. I never understood why that would be funny.

"That’s the way that the system is set up. I didn’t set up the system, somebody else set it up so that you could theoretically take a team from the bottom, or out of the league, and take them to the top. Why would you set up a system if you didn’t believe it could be done? Obviously teams have proved that before.

"I’ve always found it interesting, and not offensive, that people would laugh at that goal. I don’t hear them laughing as loud now as they did four years ago, but they probably still are somewhere in the world. I just don’t give a f*ck."

  • WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

Wrexham are currently relaxing, with McElhenney on board, in Las Vegas as another promotion party is enjoyed. Plans for life in the second tier of English football will soon be drawn up, with another busy summer on the cards for Phil Parkinson and Co.
