  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Just when it looked like the ten men of Newcastle would secure a superb comeback point against Liverpool at St James' Park on Monday, the 16-year-old substitute scored in the 100th minute to bag a stunning 3-2 win. At the same time, the teenager became the second 16-year-old to score a winning goal in a Premier League game after Rooney did it for Everton against Arsenal in October 2002.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Liverpool were largely outplayed by Newcastle despite having a player advantage for the vast majority of the game following Anthony Gordon's red card. But Ngumoha showed his prodigious quality as he became the fourth youngest scorer in Premier League history at 16 years and 361 days. Only James Vaughan, James Milner and Rooney are ahead of him on that list.
