Revealed: Man City and Juventus' key disagreement in Kalvin Phillips transfer talks as England international requests move away from Premier League champions

The Serie A side are in talks to sign the 28-year-old in the January window. However, while City are determined to sell him in a permanent transfer, ESPN reports that Juventus would rather sign him on loan until the end of the season.

Phillips wants to leave City as soon as possible and has been linked with Juve, Newcastle and Manchester United. The England international is said to be demanding guarantees over playing time before settling on his next club as he has made just 10 appearances in all competitions this season - four in each of the Premier League and Champions League.

Juve are in the market to sign a new midfielder in January as they are without two key players in that area. Nicolo Fagioli is suspended until May for violating betting regulations, while Paul Pogba is facing a lengthy ban after failing a doping test.

The ex-Leeds star will hope coach Pep Guardiola gives him a run out in the Club World Cup final against Fluminense on Friday before he looks to complete a transfer away from the Etihad Stadium in the January transfer period.
