Real Madrid target Dean Huijsen as 19-year-old Bournemouth star replaces William Saliba as top choice for centre-back overhaul

According to AS, Madrid are trying to rebuild their 'defensive wall' due to injuries to David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, and Eder Militao. Therefore, they are keeping tabs on Bournemouth summer signing Huijsen, with the 19-year-old said to be a long-term target for Los Blancos. However, a Saliba transfer is said to be 'impossible' due to the potential costs of a deal.

The report adds that in addition to Huijsen, Madrid are also keen on Palmeiras wonderkid Vitor Reis, 18, but Aymeric Laporte has been ruled out due to his age (30) and his transfer price tag. Los Blancos are trying to reassert their European dominance and signing some up-and-coming talent may help towards that goal.

Huijsen swapped Juventus for Bournemouth on a six-year deal in July for a fee that could rise to £15.2 million ($19m). He has since made 12 appearances and scored two goals for the Cherries.

Carlo Ancelotti's Madrid, who are second in La Liga, are next in action on January 3 away to relegation-threatened Valencia.
