<p>Messi returned to PSG as a world champion, having fired Argentina to a final victory against France in Qatar. The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/lionel-messi-wants-psg-to-show-off-world-cup-trophy-at-parc-des-princes/blt99a4bd17305d9303" target="_blank">wanted to parade his trophy</a> in the club's stadium ahead of his first game back, but the club <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/psg-won-t-let-messi-parade-world-cup-trophy-on-pitch-amid-fears-of-backlash-from-french-fans/blt9fc37ec298fe5318" target="_blank">would not let him because they feared some backlash</a> from supporters.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Although Messi was <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/watch-messi-guard-of-honour-psg-world-cup/bltbcfbc79fe2062d31" target="_blank">given a guard of honour upon his return to training</a> with the capital club, he feels he deserved more recognition, as he had seen many of his fellow Argentina heroes receive at their respective teams.</p>
