<p>For the first time in his coaching career, Guardiola suffered four consecutive losses as <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-city-player-ratings-vs-brighton-erling-haaland-mateo-kovacic-rico-lewis-josko-gvardiol/blta091d3145bf1e13b" target="_blank">Manchester City went down 2-1 against Brighton</a> in the Premier League on Saturday. Erling Haaland handed his team the lead in the 23rd minute, but Joao Pedro brought the Seagulls back in the game with a strike in the 78th minute before setting up Matt O’Riley for the winning goal five minutes later.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Within a span of two weeks, City have crashed out of the Carabao Cup, suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Sporting CP in the Champions League, and suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League, which has widened their gap with league leaders Liverpool to five points. After Saturday's game, a disappointed <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/pepout-trending-guardiola-on-worst-ever-losing-streak-man-city-fans-make-same-erik-ten-hag-joke-following-brighton-loss/blt1bbc1ebed88f339a" target="_blank">Guardiola admitted</a> that his team might not win the league title this year.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Speaking to the <em>BBC</em>, the City boss said, "Maybe after seven years winning six Premier Leagues, maybe one year <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/arne-slot-liverpool-three-rivals-race-premier-league-title-five-points-clear-man-city/blt5e15f01f04644cff" target="_blank">another team</a> deserve it. We are not able to do 90 minutes right now. We played a really good first half and moments in the second half. We lost again so [we need to] clean our heads, [go into the] international break and hopefully our players come back fit."</p><p>He added, "We have to try and win games again. We were not able to sustain the rhythm in the second half. Four [defeats] in a row. We have to change things quick. The schedule becomes tough but it is going to happen when the players come back."</p>

<p>The Cityzens will aim to regain their form and get back to winning ways after the international break. They next take on Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League clash on November 23.</p>
