    TELL ME MORE

The Red Dragons emphatically bounced back from their 2-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley last weekend with a commanding victory over Morecambe on Saturday. The hosts took the lead in the fifth minute when Joel Senior bundled the ball into his own net from close range, with Andy Cannon right on his shoulder, from Mullin's dangerous cross.

Cannon then turned provider when his fizzing delivery was swept home by Mullin from 10 yards just two minutes later with a first time finish. Substitute Jacob Mendy, who replaced the injured Anthony Forde, then turned on the style in the 35th minute with an Arjen Robben-esque run, cutting inside the Morecambe defence, before smashing a fierce drive into the roof of the net.

Mullin made it 4-0 in the 67th minute as his deflected strike from the edge of the box went under Morecambe's hapless goalkeeper Adam Smith and then the 29-year-old bagged his first hat-trick of the season as he took one touch to get away from a defender, before stroking the ball into the corner with aplomb.

James Jones scored a late goal to add some shine. Phil Parkinson's side are now up to second, meaning they sit in the automatic promotion spots.

    THE MVP

Paul Mullin: The striker was instrumental in Wrexham's opener and scored thrice to bag his seventh and eighth, and ninth goals of the season in all competitions. The forward looks to be back to his best after missing the start of the campaign with a punctured lung and will be delighted to have put his penalty miss last week behind him.

    THE BIG LOSER

Adam Smith: Morecambe's keeper should have done better for Wrexham's second goal as he let Mullin's fairly tame shot squirm under him to put the hosts in control. Bizarrely, he was booked for time wasting in the second half with his side 3-0 down. It was a day to forget for the stopper.

  • WHAT COMES NEXT?

Wrexham are back in League Two action on Tuesday away at Harrogate Town. It is a quick turnaround for Phil Parkinson's side but they will be taking plenty of momentum into the fixture.

  • MATCH RATING (OUT OF FIVE): ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was a big win for Wrexham and an entertaining watch for the Welsh club's faithful, including Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. They will hope for more of the same this week.
