Nigeria drawn against Tunisia and defending champions Ivory Coast to square off with Cameroon at 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco

    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Nigeria and Ivory Coast discovered their group-stage opponents for the forthcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals after the draw was conducted on Monday night.

    The draw took place at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat, Morocco.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    West African giants Nigeria are in Group C alongside 2004 Afcon champions Tunisia and East African sides Uganda, and Tanzania.

    Tournament hosts, Morocco are in Group A along with 2012 winners Zambia, Mali and Comoros.

    While defending champions Ivory Coast will square off with five-time winners Cameroon, Gabon and Mozambique in Group F.

    Meanwhile, record seven-time winners Egypt were pitted against 1996 champions South Africa in Group B, including Angola and Zimbabwe.

    WHAT NEXT?

    Due to Fifa expanding its Club World Cup competition to 32 teams and having it scheduled for June and July that year, the Afcon finals will be staged later this year.

    It will be played between 21 December 2025 and 18 January 2026 in Morocco.
