Sergio Canales has publicly addressed the altercation he had with Monterrey head coach Martín Demichelis - an incident that ended with the Spanish midfielder injured after breaking a glass door in the locker room.
Through a video posted on social media, Canales made it clear he doesn’t feel guilty about what happened.
“I’m very calm and I don’t regret anything that happened. I didn’t do anything wrong. I’ve never wanted to harm this team,” he said.
The former Real Betis player missed the match against Chivas due to cuts on his left leg but insisted it all came from a moment of collective frustration.
“Unfortunately, as a result of the frustration we all go through when things don’t go our way, we had an intense but constructive group talk, which has been blown out of proportion due to the accident I had,” he explained.
He added, “I’ve been going through a tough time, and a lot has been said. I remained silent out of respect. Everyone knows my commitment and love for this team, and that’s why I’m making this video - to put an end to this issue.”
The Spaniard could return to the pitch for the Clásico Regio against Tigres.
