'Money's needed to sign Florian Wirtz!' - Bayern planning drastic cost-cutting measures that includes hiring freeze & cancelling staff wage rises to be able to afford mega transfer

According to BILD, Bayern Munich are set to introduce extreme cost-cutting measures in an effort to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen this summer. Employees will no longer receive their annual inflation adjustment payment. "Money is needed to sign Florian Wirtz," the report states. In addition, the record champions have imposed a hiring freeze.

Until now, it was only known that sporting director Max Eberl was to make drastic cuts to the squad's spending and generate money from player sales next summer. Most recently, BILD reported that only nine players from the current squad are considered indispensable.

According to the report, goalkeepers Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig, defenders Josip Stanisic and Alphonso Davies, midfielders Aleksandar Pavlovic and Joshua Kimmich, and forwards Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise and Harry Kane are all untouchable.

All other players would apparently be allowed to leave if a suitable offer came along. This is the only way transfers of the calibre of Wirtz would be possible for Bayern. It has been known for some time that Munich's fixed-term deposit account is no longer as well-stocked as it was in the past.
