Mohamed Salah ties incredible Wayne Rooney record with goal and assist in Liverpool's win against Aston Villa

The 32-year-old bagged an assist for Darwin Nunez and got on the scoresheet himself during Saturday's victory over Villa at Anfield. That drew him level with former Manchester United forward Rooney in terms of notching a goal and an assist in a Premier League game. He has plenty of time to get to 36 and be the outright record-holder.

Salah is in the last year of his Liverpool contract and for now, there is no sure sign he will extend his stay with Arne Slot's team. If he does leave in the summer, the Egyptian could yet sign out with another Premier League title as they are now five points clear at the top of the table.

Since Salah swapped Roma for Liverpool in 2017, he has scored a remarkable 221 goals and created 99 assists in 366 appearances for the club. He has proven to be an incredible signing for just £43.9 million ($56.7m)

Egypt international Salah will have a chance to get that goal and assist Premier League record when Liverpool travel to lowly Southampton on November 24.
