Mohamed Salah on fire! Liverpool forward scores FOUR as Egypt breeze past Djibouti 6-0 in 2026 World Cup qualifier

Salah was in irrepressible form as Egypt met Djibouti on Thursday and he netted no fewer than four times. His first came as he finished a whipped cross into the box, while his second was a penalty to make it 2-0. He scored twice more thanks to fine assists from Ahmed El Fatouh, while Mostafa Mohamed and Trezeguet were also on the scoresheet.

Egypt have kicked off their qualifying campaign in perfect fashion but they will be acutely aware that they will only be guaranteed qualification for the 2026 tournament if they win their group. Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau are also in their group along with Djibouti. Nine group winners will qualify, while one team will have the potential to gain entry into the World Cup via an Intercontinental Play-Off.

Salah has won 93 caps for Egypt and has scored 57 goals. That equates to more than a goal every other game, and he has also scored 12 goals in 17 games for Liverpool in 2023/24.

Egypt play Sierra Leone on Sunday and Salah is again likely to be involved. He will return to club action with Liverpool against Manchester City on November 25th.
