Mario Balotelli cites actor Kevin Spacey and threatens to unleash his 'rebellious 16-year-old' self in bizarre message after three-month absence from Genoa squad

Mario Balotelli has made headlines once again, this time with a cryptic message following his three-month absence from the Genoa squad. In a bizarre post on Instagram, the controversial striker referenced actor Kevin Spacey and warned he might unleash his "rebellious 16-year-old" self.

Balotelli joined Genoa as a free agent in October 2024 after leaving Adana Demirspor. He reunited with Patrick Vieira, who replaced Alberto Gilardino as head coach of the club. However, the 34-year-old Italian forward has played just 56 minutes under the Arsenal legend and has been absent from the Genoa squad for three months now.

Taking to Instagram stories, Balotelli posted: "Someone around here deserves not a mature Mario but a rebellious 16-year-old Mario, maybe they would understand what disrespect like this really means."

It remains to be seen whether Balotelli will be called up to the squad for Genoa's next game, where they will face Verona on Sunday, April 13.
