De Bruyne was caught on the Achilles by Pape Matar Sarr during City's 2-0 win over Spurs on Tuesday evening and substituted before Erling Haaland scored his second of the night, leaving them one victory away from Premier League glory. THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Belgium international claims that the tackle felt like a "knife" going down his leg, but it appears the substitution was precautionary ahead of a huge game this weekend. Indeed, De Bruyne has provided 14 goal involvements in 17 league appearances this season and remains vital to the club's title hopes, even if City are expected to win on Sunday.

  • WHAT DE BRUYNE SAID

De Bruyne told Sky: "I think I'm alright. It's a bit sore, in that moment it felt a little bit like a knife going down my leg. But it's an impact injury so it's not bad, not bad. We will be alright."
