  • Van de Beek to join Frankfurt on loan
  • No loan fee involved
  • Option to buy for less than €10m
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Dutch international will look to revive his career away from the English shores in Germany after the Red Devils shook hands with the Bundesliga outfit for a loan deal until the end of the season and with a non-obligatory buy option. According to Sky Germany, United have settled for a purchase option which is just under €10m (£8.5m).

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The fee is abysmally low for a player for whom United shelled out £35 million ($46m) in 2020 and still has a contract until 2025. But since he has played just 62 times for the club with a mere 23 of them being starts, United may have been forced to settle for that amount.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Van de Beek has played just 21 minutes this season, in two separate appearances, under Erik ten Hag.

    WHAT NEXT?

Van de Beek might get to feature one more time for United before flying out to Germany. United face a shortage of midfielders for the upcoming match against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday and Ten Hag might be forced to call him on from the bench. Key players such as Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Mason Mount are all unavailable while Scott McTominay, Sofyan Amrabat, and Kobbie Mainoo are the fit players apart from Van de Beek.
