Former England international Carson moved to the Etihad Stadium in 2019. He originally joined on loan, before completing a permanent free transfer in the summer of 2021. The veteran shot-stopper was always aware that he would be filling a back-up role in Manchester.
Carson formed part of squads that won 12 major trophies, including a historic run of four successive Premier League titles. In a statement confirming his departure, those at the Etihad said: “Everyone at Manchester City would like to thank Scott for his hard work and dedication and wish him the very best of luck for the future.”

DID YOU KNOW?
According to The Telegraph, City are looking to bring in Chelsea keeper Marcus Bettinelli as Carson’s replacement. The 33-year-old is third choice at Stamford Bridge, with just one appearance - in a 2022 FA Cup clash with Chesterfield - under his belt.
WHAT NEXT FOR MAN CITY?
City are eager to get Bettinelli on board before the 2025 Club World Cup, with a “small fee” required in order to land the experienced custodian - who was called into Gareth Southgate’s England squad in 2018 during his time at Fulham. He would be another home-grown addition to Pep Guardiola’s ranks, helping the Catalan coach to fill quotas in that department.
