  • WHAT HAPPENED?

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Premier League giants Liverpool are keeping tabs on Dinamo Tbilisi's 16-year-old left-back, Saba Kharebashvili. The Reds join the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, who were reported to be monitoring the Georgian wonderkid a few months ago.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Liverpool are on the lookout for a new left-back, given that Andrew Robertson — who turns 31 in March — sees his contract expire at the end of the 2025-26 campaign. They have Konstantinos Tsimikas, who operates as Robertson's deputy, but the Liverpool hierarchy do not deem him good enough to take over from Scotland international.

Barca, meanwhile, have somewhat redirected their transfer strategy towards signing younger players. In the past few years, they have missed out on the likes of Lucas Bergvall, who signed for Spurs, and Arda Guler, who went to their eternal rivals Barcelona.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Kharebashvili made headlines last summer as the youngest player to debut in a UEFA club competition, playing for Dinamo Tbilisi’s first team at just 15, breaking Youssoufa Moukoko's record. Since then, he's become a key player and is expected to join the Georgian national team soon after impressive performances at U17 and U19 levels.
