Liverpool warned Mohamed Salah would be ‘perfect’ for any club - and wouldn’t fail at Bayern Munich ‘like Sadio Mane did’

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Hamann, speaking to BoyleSports about Premier League Odds, re-affirmed Salah's importance to Liverpool's success, and that he would shine at any club should he leave Anfield.

Salah is arguably having his best season yet in Liverpool colours. Having reached double figures for goals and assists before Christmas, the Egyptian has excelled amid questions over his future at Anfield. With the club yet to confirm contract renewal negotiations, Salah can start talking to other clubs about a free transfer on January 1 and losing him for free would be a catastrophic failure on Liverpool's behalf.

Hamann discussed the situation around Salah and pressed home that the Reds should do everything in their power to keep the winger at the club.

Hamann said: "Any club would be foolish not to take Mohamed Salah. Typically you would have to be careful about strikers or offensive players hitting the age of 32. With Salah there are no issues. The question will be, after having such a great time at Liverpool will he want to play anywhere else? He has played at Chelsea previously - which didn’t work out for him."

"This is something only he could decide. Personally, I can’t see him in anything other than a Liverpool shirt.

"I’m sure a lot of teams would love to take him. I would give him a couple of years and then would like to see what happens because anything can happen at his age. The way he has been speaking, I don’t think he has any intention to leave. From what I hear, both Salah and Liverpool are negotiating and I think he will stay."

On Sadio Mane's struggles at Bayern Munich, and a potential Salah move to Germany, Hamann added: "Bayern had a lot of problems, the manager had to leave. It can always happen in football. You can set your mind on something and it doesn’t always go to plan.

"It started really well for Mane, he was scoring goals. I didn’t know if he was happy here - however he did say many times that it was his dream to play for Bayern Munich. I don’t think it had anything to with Mane but rather the situation at the club. I don’t think Salah will have these problems because he scores goals and is never injured. He will be the perfect player for any club."

Bagging two goals and two assists against Tottenham last time out, Salah will want to carry that form over to their Boxing Day fixture with Leicester City.
