The defender will now return to Manchester, where the Red Devils' medical staff will assess his condition and provide treatment.

The 26-year-old was included in the Manchester United starting lineup in their 3-0 win over Leicester City last weekend and played the entire 90 minutes. However, in the second half, the Argentine required medical attention after he went down on the ground with a knock.

The news of Martinez's injury is a huge blow for United, who already have a long list of injured players. First-team star players like Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro and Harry Maguire have missed the club's last few games while defenders like Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are yet to feature in a match in the 2024-25 campaign.
